Miss Earth Candidates graced Yoshinoya SM Megamall

Last June 29, 2017, Miss Earth Candidates went to Yoshinoya SM Megamall branch to talked about each of their advocates. Sorry no video for that.

I still remember during my college years, every opening of the second semester, Miss Earth Candidates from all over the world would visit our state university. This event tour of the candidates was for the coming next title of holder of Miss Earth Philippines 2017.

About Miss Philippines-Earth

After establishing a track record in mounting world-class beauty pageants over the last decade, Carousel Productions Inc. decided to reinvent and improve the concept of beauty competitions for the new millennium.

Because many people admire and aspire to be a beauty queen, Carousel Productions, Inc. believed beauty queens would be a good and effective advocate of worthy causes. To give life to this vision, Carousel Productions Inc. organized and launched in 2001 the MISS PHILIPPINES-EARTH Beauty Pageant, a beauty event whose raison d’etre was to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth.

Together with the Miss Earth Foundation, MISS PHILIPPINES-EARTH aims to give a strong emphasis on environmental awareness programs.

The winner of MISS PHILIPPINES-EARTH will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns in the country, and represent the Philippines to one of the biggest international beauty competitions - the MISS EARTH Pageant.

Each candidates who were present in the event talked about their advocates for the environment. (sorry was not able to jot down everything they said and wasn't able to film)

They had a mini game and were divided into two groups.

Yoshinoya is a Japanese fast food chain, and the largest chain of gyudon (beef bowl) restaurants. The chain was established in Japan in 1899. Its motto is "Tasty, low-priced, and quick". It has its headquarters in Kita, Tokyo.

The founder of the company, Eikichi Matsuda, was from the former town of Yoshino in Osaka Prefecture, and there is a predominant belief that it is the origin of the name, and 'Ya' means "house". 'Yoshi' means "old" in Japanese and 'No' means "field."

The logo of Yoshinoya is the "bull horn", and was invented by Yoshinoya's founder. The idea of the bull horn logo derived from the initial letter of Yoshinoya's English name "Y", WHILE THE ROPE SURROUNDING THE HORN REPRESENTS THE "Yokozuna" ranking (WINNER) in Japanese sumo-wrestling, also representing the Yokozuna quality of food. The surrounding rope made up of 27 rice grains and the whole logo means Yoshinoya sells the "best beef bowls".

Yoshinoya first opened in 1899 at the Nihonbashi fish market in Tokyo. When the market was devastated by the Great Kanto earthquake, Yoshinoya moved to the new Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo in 1926.

The chain opened its first store that is open 25 hours in 1952. On December 27th, 1958, the chain's business model was changed from self-employed restaurants to a stock company, as an attempt to gain more profit.

In 1965, the chain earned million dollars in sales, which led to the idea of expanding the chain's operations in Japan. The chain's first franchised store was opened in Shinsaibashi, in 1968.

In 1975, the first American store of the fast-food chain was opened in Colorado.

2001 - First store was opened in Metropoint Mall, Pasay City.
2002 -  Yoshinoya Express Delivery (YED) was launched.
